As co-founder of Coheridy, Mike Elsesser has been responsible for all aspects of business planning and development. He spearheaded Coheridy's branding efforts including creation of the company name and mission and vision statements, and has co-authored the design and content of Coheridy's literature and website. Mike coordinated and facilitated all planning meetings, co-authored Coheridy's business plan, and was principal sales research investigator. His primary ongoing responsibilities include client research, sales prospecting and account management, and market evaluation. Since 1984 Mike has provided marketing and sales consulting to a variety of Northern Nevada and Silicon Valley (CA) concerns. Prior to founding Coheridy in 2004, he undertook an independent 2 1/2-year market research and authoring project which culminated in the self-published manuscript Concept to Concrete: Blueprint for Creation of a Northern Nevada Science Center. This document now resides in the collections of five Northern Nevada libraries including the Nevada State Library and Archives in Carson City. Prior to 1984, Mike designed and developed applications software for a variety of Silicon Valley firms, specializing in database design and digital image processing of remote sensing data. He worked extensively on the ARPANET, the government-university research project which preceded today's Internet. Mike received his B.A. degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, and Master of Computer Science degree, from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Subsequent professional education includes a Marketing Communications certificate from San Jose State University, numerous sales and marketing workshops and, since 2001, a variety of nonprofit learning opportunities highlighted by core classes in nonprofit management from the University of Nevada, Reno. Mike is a current active member of Sales & Marketing Executives International (SMEI). Recent memberships include the Nevada Museums Association (NMA), the California Advancement Researchers Association (CARA), and the Sierra Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). He has participated in NMA and Western Museums Association annual conferences, CARA's prospect research regional conferences and mentoring program, and AFP Sierra Chapter monthly luncheons, audio conferences, and annual Philanthropy Day events. During 2004 he assisted the local AFP chapter board with its monthly luncheon speaker programming. |
